New Years Address

Rev Cannon started by saying how much she had enjoyed the Christmas Carol Concert in which she played a major role, not only as the Lead, but by delivering the Christmas Message in such a theatrical way, greatly appreciated by all who attended, clearly demonstrated by the rapturous applause she received.

Her mission today was to deliver this year’s Rotary theme, “The Magic of Rotary” which she did in a relaxed, amusing and honest way, talking about some of the simple things in life that had convinced her, and occasionally reminded her, of the values of Rotary and the good that it does, both in the UK and internationally.

She spoke of Rotary’s “End Polio Vision” across the world, which has come close to reality and that Rotary played a very large part in delivering it, of how her conversations with potential Rotarians remind her each time of the magic of Rotary, how, people who have been supported by Rotary, even in a relatively small way; such as the provisions of food parcels and small gifts at Christmas to those in need, who often come back to generously support Rotary causes later in life.

Brian Naylor had the pleasure of thanking Rev Canon Pat for her inspirational, amusing and moving talk that was clearly enjoyed by all.
